The Effect of Calcium and EDTA on Protection Against Salt Injuries in Aseptically Grown Chinese Cabbages

Abstract
Aseptic culture of Chinese cabbage in calcium-excluded Hoagland¢¥s medium was experimented in the presence of NaCl to determine their growth, following seed germination, with respect to length of hypocotyl, leaves and roots, with or without addition of calcium.
Supplementing EDTA to the cultural medium also showed a similar protective influence to the salt nihibition of growth as in case of calcium, unlike magnesium.
Boron instead of EDTA had a striking protection on root growth with inhibitory levels of NaCl.
